About Us

Arizona Economics

Welcome from Andreas Blume, Department Head

FacultyI’m pleased that you’ve come to visit our website at The University of Arizona's Economics Department. Whether you’ve come to find specific information or to learn about us by browsing through our site, I’m sure you’ll take away with you some of the enthusiasm and energy of our undergraduate programs, our Ph.D. program, our faculty, and our students.

You’ll learn that our faculty’s research (and even our graduate students’ research) is consistently published in the leading economics journals, and consistently wins research grants and national and international prizes.

The Arizona Economics Department is the home of the Economic Science Laboratory, the world’s pioneer in experimental and behavioral economics for teaching and research, as well as the Institute for Behavioral Economics and the Office of Economic Education.

You’ll learn that the department’s teaching is second to none: our faculty members consistently win university and national awards for their teaching. And you’ll find that our students — our undergraduate economics majors, as well as our Ph.D. students — have unusually good access to this outstanding faculty.

After you’ve spent just a few minutes with us here at the Arizona Economics website I’m sure you’ll begin to understand why “The Economics Department in the Desert” is such an exciting and rewarding place to do economics.
