Doctoral Minor

The Economics Department offers 2 distinct Ph.D. minors for doctoral students in other programs who wish to pursue a minor in Economics. In both minors the core courses must be followed by a written preliminary examination on the course material.

Economics Minor

A minor in Economics consists of:

• ECON 501A – Microeconomic Theory I
• ECON 501B – Microeconomic Theory II
• ECON 520 – Theory of Quantitative Methods in Economic

and one of the following:

• ECON 501C – Microeconomic Theory III
• ECON 522A – Econometrics I
  

Econometrics Minor:

A minor in Econometrics consists of these four courses:

• ECON 520 – Theory of Quantitative Methods in Economics
• ECON 522A – Econometrics I
• ECON 522B – Econometrics II
• An ECON 696 field course in Econometrics

Other courses may be substituted for these courses at the discretion of the Director of Graduate Studies.
